The Gathering

Every Tuesday night at 7 pm we come together to celebrate community, discuss the Bible, and connect with God through worship. This all happens at the Danforth Chapel in Hubbard Park, right next to the IMU.

This year's discussion will be "Following Jesus" based around the book of Mark.

CCF Staff

John Johnson, Campus Minister – John began in campus ministry as a student at Western Illinois University where he led worship, served as a small group leader, and realized the incredible opportunity that campus ministry presents. Because of this he now works at CCF in Iowa. Prior to coming to Iowa City he completed a Master in Divinity from Lincoln Christian Seminary with an emphasis in Worship Studies. John has a passion for board games, Chicago sports teams, movies, and leading others into a deeper relationship with Christ. He is the guy that tends to speak during the Gathering and he will warm you with his sense of humor, charm, and humility. On top of all of these attributes John's life is made busier and more enjoyable because of his wife Mandy, and two kids Brennan and Zoë.

Aaron Schweitzer, Campus Minister - Aaron grew up in Cedar Lake, Indiana, where he was actively involved in the local church. Right before Sophomore year in high school, Aaron felt a call and decided to pursue full-time ministry as a career. He eventually went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Youth and Family Ministry from Lincoln Christian University in May 2017. While at LCU, Aaron discovered his passion for Campus Ministry and now works with CCF in Iowa City. Aaron is continuing his education pursuing a Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation from LCU. Some of Aaron's favorite things besides ministry are reading, watching movies, playing drums, and puppies! Aaron loves meeting new people and if that is you, you can find him more in the background at The Gathering or often reading/writing on campus.
